Design Workbench Free

What’s on that site? Find out before the first visit.

Type an address. In about twenty seconds the Workbench pulls the parcel and tax ID, zoning, flood, fire, faults, soils, seismic, climate and weather history from public sources, then runs the calculators on it: wind pressures and window performance grade, roof and wall condensation, drainage, code analysis, development yield. Free, in the browser, no account. Information only — not for design.

What you get

The site, the numbers and the weather, on one screen.

Site data for any US address

Parcel and tax ID, zoning, flood zone, fire hazard, faults, soils, seismic design values and climate zone, each card naming the public source it came from. Four sections: Planning & Zoning, Environmental, Structural, Energy & Envelope.

Twenty calculators

Development yield and construction type, code analysis and egress, fire separation, wind by risk category, components and cladding pressures with window PG, ground snow, design-storm rainfall, roof drainage, roof and wall condensation, the energy code envelope table, embodied carbon, grading, stormwater and more.

Storms, history and the file

Active storms, atmospheric rivers and wildfires, the storm archive and wind-driven rain history for the site. See the scheme in 3D, save sites and re-check them for changes, share a link, download a CAD base file, and produce a site report.

Not for design. Nothing on the Workbench may be used for or relied on in design, engineering, permitting or construction. It is not a survey, title report, zoning determination or code analysis of record, and public services go down and some data is years old. Each card names its source; check it. You sign a short waiver the first time you open it.

Also from Specified Inspection Platforms

Built by people who spend their days on the other half of this.

The Workbench is the arithmetic. The rest of what we make is what happens after the drawings go out — documenting whether what was built matches what was drawn, and testing it when the answer matters. Same job, later in the week.

The field inspection app

Observations, photographs, field tests and action items written on the device as you walk the job. Twenty building envelope checklists ship with it, it works with no signal, and the report is generated on site on your letterhead.

The Development Hub

One place per project, run by the owner’s team rather than the contractor’s: every visit, the open action items, the cost position, payment applications, submittals, RFIs, field testing and warranties, with the owner, architect and consultants in one room.

What developers get →

Field testing hardware

ASTM E1105 field water testing: the app that runs the procedure, a control box that runs it, a witness box that watches a test it is not running, and leak detection that reports into the same record.

The checklist library

Expert-curated observation libraries across twenty building envelope systems, plus field testing to AAMA 501.2, 502 and 503 — standard, or written around your firm.

Look up a site.

No account, and no cost while we are building it out. If you also walk the sites you design for, the app comes with a seven-day trial on the real product.
