About
This started as one reviewer's tool for his own Tuesday.
Not as a startup idea, and not as a product plan. As a working consultant trying to stop losing his evenings to report assembly.
The origin
Specified Inspection Platforms was written by an IIBEC-registered consultant with more than twenty years in the field — Washington, DC, then the East Coast, now the Pacific Northwest. He wrote it for the site visits he was doing that week, and ran it on his own iPad on real projects.

Twenty years shows up in small places. Photos renumber themselves when you delete one. Weather fills itself in. There is an undo, because wet gloves make mistakes. None of that came from a roadmap. It came from a bad afternoon on a swing stage, and a long evening writing the report afterwards.
The library came the same way: observations across 20 envelope systems, written by someone who has had to defend them in a meeting. Anyone can build a form builder in a month. Knowing what to ask at a below-grade transition before backfill takes longer.
What we are, and what we're not
We are a software vendor. We do not take inspection work and we do not bid against our own customers — a tool sold to you by a competitor is a tool to think twice about.
We are a documentation tool, not a professional opinion. We record and format what you observed; the judgment and the responsibility stay yours. Be suspicious of field review software that says otherwise.
We are small on purpose, for now. Support is email, one business day, answered by people who have done this work. That beats a call center we don't have.
Why "Specified"
Because every argument on a job site comes back to it. Was it installed as specified? The requirements are already written down. The reviewer's job is to document what is actually there against them.
Where we're focused
Building envelope consulting firms of three to fifteen reviewers, starting in the Pacific Northwest and the Bay Area. A narrow beachhead on purpose: better to serve one buyer completely than every buyer approximately.
The same engine extends to adjacent work over time — property condition assessments, phased site reviews, warranty and punch — one properly written library at a time. An empty engine sold generically is just a form builder.
Come judge it on the work.
Read a finished report, or get in touch and we’ll walk you through it.
